THE GARDEN OF DREAMS...
Once a private garden of Kaiser Shumsher J.B Rana, the Garden of Dreams is now open to the public. Located within the walls of the Kaiser Mahal, adjacent to the Ministry of Education, this is a much sought-after oasis of calm and well maintained greenery. Although recently restored, most of its neo-classical architecture and water bodies such as the central lily pond have been preserved. Its is self sustained through the collected entrance fees along with the cafe and bar within its property. This garden welcomes both locals and foreigners alike within its walled compound, inviting them to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu and get lost in serenity.
Garden of Dreams was restored in cooperation with the Austrian Government between 2000 and 2007. The Garden of Dreams became a peaceful oasis full of unique architecture and varieties of flora and fauna brought from various countries. Garden of Dreams is an example and a reminder that we can develop and restore monuments and places of significance which have been forgotten and lying dormant for hundreds of years.
Garden of Dreams has enthralled the visitors ever since it was opened to the general public and tourists alike. If you are in Kathmandu and want a break to be submerged in some peace and tranquility, this is the place to be.
